Academic Program

Refrigeration and AC Repair Technician 

The Refrigeration & A.C. Repair Technician program is designed to train students for an entry-level position in the air conditioning / refrigeration industry. The program includes a theoretical and a hands-on course in the installation, basic, design, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial refrigeration, air condition, and heating equipment along with office fundamentals.

Computer Business Application

This program of study provides theoretical and practical training in business related computer software applications. Graduates will be qualified for entry level positions such as word processing and/or data entry operators working in a computerized business environment.

Computer Graphics and Web Design 

This program is designed to provide the student with the skill and knowledge necessary to apply and obtain an entry level job in word processing, computerized designing, drawing, or any other position where a fundamental understanding of computer design, planning, and drawing is needed or desired.

Medical Assistant

This program is designed to provide the students with the basic skills and knowledge necessary to work in various related areas of the Medical Assistant field, modern laboratory techniques and medical office procedures. Graduates will be qualified for an entry-level position as a Medical Assistant Technician. This program meets the Department of Health and HIV/AIDS Education.

Electrical Construction Technician

The Electrical Construction Technician program is designed to train students for an entry level position in the electrical construction field for residential and commercial projects. The program includes theoretical and hands-on course in the installation of residential and commercial projects.

Plumbing Technician

This program is designed to provide the student with the skill and knowledge necessary to work in the Plumbing field. Graduates will be prepared to confront the continuous challenges that their profession brings and will be able to aspire to higher positions in their companies.

Building Construction Technology

This program is designed to prepare students for employment and advanced training in the building construction industry. This program focuses on broad transferable skills, stresses the understanding of all aspects of the building construction industry and demonstrates such elements of the industry as planning, management, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues, and health, safety, and environmental issues.

Patient Care Technician

Upon completion of this program, graduates will possess the skill and hands on experience need to become entry level Patient Care Technicians, utilizing patients care skills in a variety of healthcare settings. The program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the health care industry; planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues.

Graduation Requirements

Graduation from South Florida Institute of Technology requires an overall cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 or C, as well as a 2.0 or C average in required courses, completion of all course assignments, and fulfillment of all obligation to the school.
